Organic Temple Scrub Recipe: Toothpaste + Body + Face Scrub
Temple Scrub Recipe
~Toothpaste + Body Scrub + Face Scrub~
Temple Scrub is what I have named my luxurious organic remineralising Tooth and Body Scrub Recipe. Designed as a minimalist solution to support the health and well-being of my body temple, it is multi-use: integrating a toothpaste and body and face exfoliating scrub and mask.
I was inspired by reading about ancient healing practices through essential oils and this became the focus when creating this blend, and love the combination of certified organic ingredients; offering a pure, unadulterated beauty product to honour my body temple.
Organic Aluminum Free Bicarbonate Soda:
A natural substance that is alkaline and pH balancing and is antibacterial, antifungal, antiseptic and holds anti-inflammatory properties. Bicarbonate of Soda may also whiten teeth and has a low value relative dentin abrasivity score making it optimal for dental hygiene.
Organic Cold-Pressed Coconut Oil:
A powerfully healing, moisturizing and anti-bacterial cleanser that is gentle on the skin. It softens the keratin caps and makes exfoliation much easier and allows for a deeper cleanse. Coconut Oil helps maintain a more natural balance of lipids on your tongue, while still having potent antibacterial properties, and reduces plaque and decay-causing bacteria.
Organic Bentonite Clay:
A healing clay that cleanse and supports the body temple by aiding in drawing out toxins, heavy metals, chemicals and impurities from mouth, skin and gut. As well as increasing immunity and reducing inflammation, this healing clay also possesses a wide variety of minerals and nutrients including calcium, magnesium, silica, sodium, copper, iron and potassium.
Organic Peppermint Essential Oil:
Peppermint contains powerful antimicrobial, expectorant and antiseptic properties, beneficial for oral and topical uses and can aid in relieving soreness, digestive complaints and skin inflammations.
Organic Cinnamon contains significant concentration of antioxidants, and contains powerful antimicrobial, anti-parasitic, anti-inflammatory, anti-platelet and antiviral properties, making it extremely beneficial for oral and skin health.
Frankincense had been valued for its powerful healing properties for centuries. It contains strong antiseptic and disinfectant properties and can help prevent dental health issues like tooth decay, bad breath, cavities or oral infections. It is also a powerful astringent, adding in protecting skin cells and slowing signs of aging.
Myrrh contains potent antioxidant, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antifungal properties. It has been since ancient times as a natural healing remedy for ailments, inflammations and wounds, and due to its antioxidant activity, can aid in skin rejuvenation and reduce signs of aging. Because of these properties, it may aid in preventing gum disease and relieve mouth and gum irritations.

Body Scrub: Simply scoop desired amount from jar and scrub your body using circular upward brushing motions. Can leave to absorb for 5-15 minutes, and then wash off.
Dangers of Commercial Toothpaste:
The mouth is one of the most absorbent places in the mouth, and although we aim not to swallow toothpaste, some is still absorbed in to our bloodstream and lines our mouth and tongue after brushing. Considering we brush 2-3 times daily, the amount our bodies are exposed to does add up over the course of a lifetime, and the mouth and gums are the gateway to our entire system.
Various commercial large-brand toothpastes do consist of toxic and harmful ingredients of which we must be conscious what they are and how they may be affecting our bodies. Chemicals such as triclosan and fluoride, surfactants like sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate (SLS), or sodium lauryl ether sulfate (SLES), aspartame and other artificial sweeteners, propylene glycol, diethanolamine among others, have all shown links to bodily ailments and even cancer.
Harmful Microbeads found in commercial body-face scrubs:
Microbeads are tiny plastic pellets used within various commercial body washes, cleansers, exfoliants, toothpastes and scrubs. They are extremely harmful to the environment as they travel through the drainage system to our oceans and absorb toxins long the way. They are then eaten by marine wildlife and fish, and eventually by humans.
Choosing non-harmful and polluting beauty products is vital for the sustainability and welfare of our planet and animals.
